From Digg: When asked to estimate the value of the cosmic jewel, Ronald Winston, chief executive officer (CEO) of Harry Winston, Inc., indicated that such a large diamond probably would depress the value of the market, stating, “Who knows? It may be a self-deflating prophecy because there is so much of it.”

I hate diamonds. There is nothing good about the diamond industry. It’s oppressive, monopolistic, and it places an unrealistic value on a silly little rock. It’s marketed to the degree that if you don’t spend $10,000 for a ring when you get married you’re socially scorned for not showing that you “really love” your significant other. It’s like the natural representation of all that I hate about materialistic society.

Alright. got that out of my system. But it’s awesome that it’s a giant diamond in space!
