Transformers: The Movie

All the fanboy fear of Michael Bay tainting their childhood memories was for naught.
Just go see it already. It’s awesome.

Cautious Nerdiness

So I practiced some self control and didn’t buy and iPhone the day it came out. I’m waiting to see what happens. New features, bug fixes, etc. Besides, my current phone
works just fine for me right now. I was curious to see which of my favorite nerd friends had gotten one. I sent out a roll call mass text message that just said, “Ok, who got an iphone

Here are some of the responses I got:
Jim C: Not me wife woudn’t allow it
Adam O: They only stock ibuttplug at the sf store
Chris M: not mayor street

So, no one got it. Even my friend Jorj didn’t get one, but didn’t expect him too. I’d expect him to just build his own. but his friend did and I got to play with one for a few minutes. It’s cool. I’ll get one. Eventually.

reacTABLE

In response to comments left by my good friend CMFW, I bring what to you what makes me really excited about multi-touch interfaces, the ReacTable Wikipedia Link

Multitouch may not be the most efficient way to work 8-10 hours a day, but it makes for a really great musical/video performance interface. A keyboard and mouse isn’t exactly as inspiring as keyboard or drum. I just bought an Akai MDP24 for a Pink Skull show we’re doing Friday and it’s nice but it’d be really nice to have a fully configurable interface to perform and write with. I’m thinking we’re about 3 years away from an affordable consumer model.

Microsoft Surface

Microsoft just announced their new Surface product. It’s a coffee table sized monitor with a multi-touch (more than one finger) touch screen interface. I think it has amazing possibilities I’m finally glad someone is coming up with an option to the mouse/keyboard interface. It’s a start anyway. It also seems like something Apple would have done, had they not have had so much success with the iPod/iPhone.

I really want Minority Report type interfaces..giant screen, actually moving stuff around with your hands and arms. At the very least, it’ll cut down on carpal tunnel syndrome a bit.
